Community InvolvementMaking a DifferenceThe West Firm is committed to the communities in which we practice and making a difference in the lives of others. Because of this commitment, pro bono and charitable activities are an important part of what we do. Through pro bono representation, we are able to give back to our community, while gaining new experience, heightened legal skills, and a greater sensitivity to client needs. The West Firm also gives back to the community in other ways. Just as an example, our firm decided to forego the printing and mailing of holiday cards and instead, donate money each year to a worthy cause. So far, we have supported an animal rescue organization helping animals that have been abused or simply abandoned at high-kill shelters, Breast Cancer research, and Unity House, a resource for families in crisis. Individually, our attorneys and staff are also actively involved in community activities. Yvonne Marciano is involved with the Northeastern New York Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, where she has served as the Walk Director and Co-Chair of the Corporate Sponsorship Committee. Cindy Monaco is committed to animal rescue work, giving her time and resources to saving animals that have been abandoned or abused. Vicki Schlierer, Paralegal, chairs an annual benefit concert for the Amistad Mission in Cochabamba, Bolivia and fundraises for the Animal Protective Foundation.
