Wagner Founding Board Member of Empire State Green Standard Alliance
Background
On September 10, 2025, the Empire State Green Standard Alliance (GSA) was officially launched with the goal of protecting cannabis consumers across New York State by advancing safety, education, and fair policy. GSA was created to fill the gap in consumer advocacy within New York’s evolving cannabis landscape. As legal cannabis market develops, GSA believes that cannabis consumers should be afforded the same rights and protections afforded in any other legal market: safe and locally produced products, honest labeling, fair pricing, and clear options for recourse when issues arise for consumers. GSA plans to create such a market by making it transparent, accountable, and a trailblazer for setting the national standard for consumer protection, industry fairness, and public confidence.
The West Firm’s Counsel, Mark J. Wagner, Jr., is a founding board member of GSA and is eager to begin working to further the organization’s goals for creating a New York cannabis market where every cannabis user can trust their purchases are safe, transparently labeled, and of high quality. Mark has assisted numerous cannabis licensees in acquiring and maintaining their licenses, addressing complex legal issues arising under New York’s cannabis statutes and regulations, and navigating the ever-changing legal cannabis market. Leveraging his extensive experience with cannabis licensure and compliance, Mark will also help GSA protect consumer interests while supporting the sustainable growth and scaling of New York’s legal cannabis market.
The West Firm is proud to support Mark and GSA in building a fair, transparent cannabis market for New Yorkers and beyond. Learn more about GSA’s mission at greenstandardalliance.org. For guidance on cannabis licensing, compliance, or New York’s evolving market, contact The West Firm today.
